This weekend, I have experienced all three. As a gardener, one must often experience the ugly and the bad too eventually reach the good.
For me, I allowed the ugly to build up to an ugly because I turned a blind eye to it. What is the ugly you may wonder?
The ugly consists of over a dozen blackberry bushes, stinging nettle (yes it lives up to its' name) and a smattering of potato vine. All of these were residing in what we term as the 'south forty'. This 'flower' bed runs parallel to the field.
The reason this became so 'ugly' is because I broke the cardinal rule also pertaining to a kindergarten class and the ocean "Do not turn your back on any of these examples." Which leads me to the 'very bad'.
The welts and scratches were a direct result of battling with the stinging nettle and blackberry bushes. Once again, I forgot this adage: "Know your audience." I foolishly wore shorts and a sleeveless top when I met with this tough audience. This follows into the 'very good'
Pure 'black gold'. I just love putting compost down. I am one of those strange people that savors the aroma of fresh compost.
My suggestion to you, is stare down the barrel at those 'ugly' rascals, and you will soon end up on the other side of the 'good'. And that's a very good thing.
Cheers,
Laura
