The first garden we visited, was laced with a prodigious amount of shade loving perennials such as ligularia, saxifrage, and japanese forest grass. I was enamored by the way this beautiful japanese maple accentuated the gate and arbor. Possibly acer japonica 'Aratoma'??
Another garden along the tour was one I was antsy to view. Lucy Hardiman, the landscape designer, teacher, and garden inspirer extraordinare. She did not disappoint.
One of Lucy Hardiman's strengths is her ability to combine colors together so boldly and seamlessly use art pieces to tie them all together. As in the following:
Other art pieces I admired, were here 'antique-like' ceramic vertical stakes, so creatively displayed
Who ever said that trees needed to be bare? Why not add some chandeliers and other colorful bobbles?
The last garden on the tour, bore up to considerable constraints. A steep hillside that was terraced so splendidly and with such detail that I was totally charmed. It was as if I had been miniaturized and was viewing a magical fairy garden.
The attention to detail, with even custom-carved window frames, is soooo beguiling.
One more shot of this garden:
Okay, I lied, one more picture:
Thank you ANLD for sponsoring this tour, and for my friends whom braved the fickle Oregon weather. Results: Inspired, rejuvenated, and refreshed. Not a bad way to spend a rainy Saturday day, I would say.
